About me
Ellen Degnan is a senior staff attorney at the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), based in Montgomery, Alabama. She joined SPLC in 2018 and works on cases relating to the criminalization of poverty, homelessness, and Black land loss. Ellen graduated with a BA in economics from Yale University and received her law degree summa cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law. Before law school, she worked as a data analyst with Innovations for Poverty Action evaluating the efficacy of anti-poverty interventions in the U.S. and abroad.
