About me
Kristine Hansen is Disaster Grants Program Counsel at Legal Services Corporation. With the LSC Disaster Team, Kristine implements the disaster grant administration process, evaluates the performance of disaster grantees, works with disaster grantees on relief and recovery efforts, provides technical
assistance on disaster response to all LSC grantees, and coordinates with external organizations to integrate civil legal aid in the disaster cycle.
Kristine brings more than 20 years of experience as an attorney and in policy, program management, and leadership in both nonprofit and government
organizations. Before joining LSC, Kristine practiced with a DC-based boutique law firm focusing on complex multi-party insurance recovery litigation and
advising clients on corporate issues including annual reporting, audits, and due diligence. Prior to her legal career, Kristine worked in project
management, development, and oversight at various organizations in programs focusing on women, children, and underserved populations for both
domestic and international programs. These programs focused on policy, political empowerment, economic development, and grass roots organizing,
among other issues. Kristine served as a staff member for former United States Senator Barbara A. Mikulski. She earned her BA in Political Science from
George Washington University and her JD from Michigan State University College of Law.
