About me
Sue Schechter is the Field Placement Director and a Lecturer-in-Residence at UC Berkeley School of Law. Sue has been working in legal education for over 35 years, including positions at NAPIL/Equal Justice Works, Public Interest Clearinghouse/OneJustice, and at different capacities at law schools, including Career Services and Student Services. At Berkeley Law, she directs and teaches in an experiential education program where students do academic credit semester externships at non-profit and government agencies and has taught a Lawyering in the Public Interest/Public Sector class. She is the faculty co-director of the Berkeley Law Pro Bono Program and a member of the law school's Public Interest Career Support Committee. In addition, she has been active with and in leadership positions with the AALS/Association of American Law Schools Clinical, Externship, Pro Bono, and other sections. She is a member and participates in other experiential education learning organizations, including BACE/Bay Area Consortium on Externships and GAJE/Global Alliance for Justice Education. She is especially committed to helping law students find their way to public interest and public service paths, including pro bono.
